RAID Data RecoveryNAS QNAP Data Recovery

QNAP NAS data storage is a system consisting of multiple hard disks. To improve storage reliability, such devices create RAID arrays of different levels. But even with the most reliable media storage systems, unexpected situations may occur, such as accidental deletion of data, formatting of the drive’s damage, system failure, failure of the controller or other hardware part of the device, etc. As a result, essential files may be lost.

Most network drives of the QNAP NAS system use software RAID. On the one hand, it is more technologically advanced than hardware. On the other hand, it is more difficult to recover data. Moreover, arrays are of different types – and with some of them, QNAP data recovery is impossible.

QNAP NAS Drive Failure

These network storages are perfectly connected and interact with cloud services – such as DropBox, Google Drive, SymForm, etc. You can also sync files between all devices. However, situations are different, and this may not always help.

Most Often Network Drives Fail As a Result Of:

Mechanical Damage

Incorrect Shutdown

Power Surges

Problematic Update

All this can lead to the destruction of the configuration, the crash of disks, file system corruption, the array controller’s failure, or the array’s destruction. To clarify the reason, diagnostics are carried out to determine the probability of a positive outcome, the cost of QNAP recovery after unsuccessful firmware, and work speed.

PITS Global Data Recovery Services’ highly qualified engineers perform such diagnostics in an ISO Certified Class 10 Cleanroom. Our data recovery specialists are trained to work on various data storage with different failures. Their experience and relevant certifications help us maintain a 99% success rate.

Mostly we have cases of QNAP NAS with failures such as syntax error, usage error, incompatibility of protocols, and transfer error, which are being successfully recovered.

QNAP NAS Data Recovery

The main feature of almost all NAS devices is the lack of a RAID controller. An entire load of data processing, Linux OS operation, and network connection lies with the components of the mini-computer. Hence the main problem of NAS – is system congestion.

Recovery of Failed Hard Drives

It does not make NAS less reliable because this device integrates many functions such as RAID, FTP, server, backup, video streaming, torrent client, etc. All this at the price of a suitable RAID controller that implements only one of the listed functions – RAID. Of course, such a complex system requires good optimization. It appears gradually – with the release of new models and firmware updates for existing ones.

As a mass storage device for large amounts of data, NAS is one of the best options for network storage. If you consider the disadvantages and backup important files to a separate external drive or the cloud, using a NAS is the best solution for conveniently storing large amounts of information.

QNAP NAS Hard Drive Caused Failure

Recently we received a recovery of a QNAP NAS data storage. The device was used as network storage for organizing the general access of employees to several databases, including the mail database and work projects. During the operation, QNAP worked properly, on average 10 hours a day, and did not cause any complaints.

But something terrible happened a couple of days ago. The NAS server did not boot. There was no connection to the drive’s network drives from user computers.

After the power was on, the LED indicator “STATUS” with an interval of 0.5 s was constantly blinking in red on the front panel of the drive. This indication displayed that NAS is in critical mode, single disk failure in a RAID 1, RAID 5, or RAID 6 configuration. Unfortunately, the problem was not quickly resolved.

The client filled in a request form on our website, and the recovery case started. After consulting with our customer service, she decided to request emergency service. PITS Global Data Recovery Services established this option for those who need their data as soon as possible. The emergency data retrieval takes 8-48 hours to be fully completed.

The customer left the network-attached system at one of our drop-off points. The engineers started diagnostics to determine the failure reason. They found out that the RAID system of the network failed due to a hard drive malfunction.

All hard drives were carefully investigated in our laboratory’s ISO Certified Class 10 Cleanroom. One of the hard drives had a burnt memory controller. Further diagnostics showed that this happened due to overheating.

The memory controller chip failures are often solved by replacing them with new ones. Our engineers unsoldered a memory controller from an exact hard drive and installed it back on the failed drive.

They transferred the data to a new HDD and started to recover the RAID system. Data recovery experts analyzed the contents of the disks and the resulting images.

They determined the necessary parameters and algorithm for RAID operation. We simulated this work and got a software raid. Files and folders were restored and transferred from it to a working media and made a functional image of the partition. In the course of the described work, the contents of the disks remain unchanged.

After the RAID system was recovered, the NAS system was operating correctly. The customer was satisfied with the service level and the time of recovery procedure and left an excellent review on the google reviews.
